Girls' Night at age 39.99 looks very different than it did 10 years ago. Now it's a bit more mellow and there's far less tequila involved - and my mom was there.
Last night I met a few of my favourite people - my oldest and bestest friend, a relatively new but totally awesome friend and my mom - in Dundas Square.

First, we checked out Buskerfest for a few minutes before heading to the main event, a movie.
At Buskerfest we saw three perfermances, starting with a small orchestra where audience members could come up and conduct. The adults who came up were a bit boring but luckily several kids did it while I was watching.
The kid in this photo had to be under 4. She was amazing - you could tell she totally felt the music from all the jumping up and down and spinning around and around, completely in time to the music and with the conductor's baton moving up and down also in time. That kid is destined for great, or at least fun, things.

Then we saw a puppeteer who had a very long lead-up before pulling out a puppet who looked exactly like him, but with a flask, who in turned pulled out another smaller puppet that looked like the first puppet - only smaller. I'm fairly sure that this is the definition of the term "meta."
After watching mini-him drink from the flask several times, we moved on to performers in some crazy looking costumes. They didn't do much - the draw just seemed to be the costumes, which, like I said, were pretty crazy. But apparently not so crazy that I felt the need to take a picture.

The Dinner
I may have mentioned that I love movies so you'll have to excuse me for going to two movies during these 40 days. But this movie is the reason why I go to movies.
We saw The Hundred-Foot Journey. I don't love the name - I seem to have a hard time remembering it, even after I saw the movie, so that's not a good sign. But the movie itself was amazing. It was about food and flavour and relationships and family and change and tradition. Oh man - I just LOVED it!

The Dessert
Dessert was actually dinner. That metaphor gets a bit confusing!
After the movie, we headed to a nearby sushi restaurant. It was interesting because they gave us an iPad to order our meal. The menu was on the iPad of course and we just needed to press the "+" on the item we wanted and then submit the entire order at the end. It was very cool with one major flaw. There was only one iPad, so we had to take turns using it and placing our orders. I think it took longer than if we had individual menus, but I guess we didn't have to wait for a server to take our order.
At any rate, the sushi was delicious, and the company was even better. There was no tequila or alcohol of any kind. But no matter, I'll take a little shot of girlfriend-time any day!
